Plinacro at the Business Forum of the Three Seas Initiative
The Croatian delegation led by
Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić-Radman
participated in the
9th Summit of the Three Seas Initiative
, which was held in the capital of Lithuania, Vilinus, from April 10 to 11.
The
President of Plinacro, Ivica Arar and his assistant, Vedran Špehar participated
in the Business Forum As that was held as part of the Summit. On that occasion, the
energy projects
of Croatian energy companies were discussed, as well as the importance of the LNG terminal on Krk, and the possibilities of financing
geothermal projects
through the Investment Fund of the Three Seas Initiative.
The Three Seas Initiative was launched by Poland and Croatia in 2015 and today
it brings together 13 EU member states
between the Baltic, Black and Adriatic Seas. The strategic partners of the Initiative are the USA, Germany, the European Commission, and from this year, Japan. The aim of the initiative is to strengthen the connection of the
thirteen member states
that lag behind the western part of the European Union in this segment, with a special emphasis on
cooperation in the field of transport, energy, military mobility and digitalization in the Three Seas region
, and beyond, with our regional and transatlantic partners. It is of exceptional importance for Croatia, since a third of Croatia’s total trade refers precisely to the Three Seas Initiative countries.
In relation to the last summit meeting in Bucharest in 2023,
Croatia nominated seven new projects in the Catalogue of strategic projects of the Three Seas Initiative, and all of them were accepted
. By this Croatia became the participating country with the largest number of projects. Strategic projects are
financed from European funds
, and by their inclusion in the Catalogue Croatia’s chances of obtaining the maximum amount of funds increase due to the support of all participating countries of the Three Seas Initiative.
As announced,
Croatia will host the Initiative in 2026
, 10 years since the Dubrovnik Declaration, the basic document of the Three Seas Initiative, which was adopted at the first summit meeting in Dubrovnik in 2016.
