The Rules of Conduct of the Transmission System Operator

Transmission system operator publishes information for balance responsible parties and undertakes balancing actions during a gas day D in accordance with the times listed in the table. 


 

In addition to the stated periods (four times a day) a TSO is entitled to carry out balancing actions beyond the stipulated terms, in case of extraordinary situation on the TS, on the plant and in the network of production gas pipelines of the natural gas producer, on the gas storage system, a transmission system of the neighbouring TSO, a facility of the end customer connected to the TS, a system of the distribution system operator and a system of an LNG operator. Prior to its carrying out balancing actions beyond the stipulated terms, the TSO will in shortest possible period notify Balance Responsible Parties, storage system operator and gas market  operator. 

The transmission system operator undertakes balancing actions pursuant to article 6 of BAL Regulation and the Rules on the organisation of the gas market if the amount of the estimated total imbalance at the end of a gas day is beyond the announced limits of the estimated total imbalance.

A balancing action implies activation of balancing energy at the trading platform by the transmission system operator, in the amount of gas that will lower the estimated total imbalance to the amount within the limits of the estimated total imbalance. Depending on the estimated total imbalance the transmission system operator can activate postive or negative balancing energy in one gas day for balancing purposes.



Determining the limits of the estimated total imbalance

As of 18.1.2023. the limits of the estimated total imbalance are +/- 2.800.000 kWh.
